3.6. Assignment (article & image) ranking

Section and assignment ranking is used to organize the web version of your paper, in lieu of page numbers (for your printed version). Assignments and sections shown at the top of this list are displayed first or otherwise prioritized. You can rank assignments in a given issue at any time (after the assignments are created, of course).

Ranking is convenient and straightforward, and can be done in a matter of minutes. The ranking page displays the assignment status on the left for your continence. This uses the same icons as the Find Assignments page. The status of the assignment plays no role is how you can rank it; you can rank completed and uncompleted assignments just the same. To rank assignments:

  1. Go to Publish > Ranking. This will bring up the Section and assignment ranking page.
  2. By default, this page will display the assignments in the Current Issue (see Issue Management for information on the Current Issue). You can change which issue you a ranking by selecting an issue from the drop down box. You can rank future issues as well as past issues. Please be aware that ranking past issues will update their positions on the web immediately.
  3. You can move assignments (and their children) Up or Down by clicking the appropriate text to the right of the assignment. When enough assignments exist, you are also provided a Top and Bottom button to move the assignment to the very top of the list quickly or very bottom. When ranking children, you cannot move them above or below their parent. Assignments cannot be moved above or below the section in which they exist.
  4. You can also rank sections on this page using the icons to the right.
Note: Ranking sections applies to all issues that you publish.
  5. When finished you can safely leave this page. All of your rankings are stored.
