iWebPress: User Guide |
These fields control the state of an assignment within the iWebPress system. The fields below control directly the icons on the view assignments page, as well as various other status information.
Accepted
When an assignment is first created, each author can be encouraged to accept or reject the assignment such that editors will be aware the assignee has received and is going to do the assignment. Note: This field is optional in that not using it will not affect how assignments are handled within the system.
Completed
Marking an assignment as completed ensures the writer can no longer make changes to the assignment, and will symbolize the assignment is ready for editors to begin the editing process. Writers are encouraged to work on their story within the iWebPress system so the assignment is stored in a safe and globally accessible place. For this reason, authors can being to place content into an assignment before the assignment is completed. When an author submits an assignment by marking it completed, he or she can still see the changes being made to the assignment, but not make them unless they are of a higher permission level than writer (see the permissions section for more information on permissions).
Approved for publication
Once all editing of an assignment has been completed, it should be marked as Approved for publication. This signifies the assignment is ready to be printed in your online and printed publication. For an assignment to be marked as Approved for publication, it must be Completed. Also, marking an assignment as approved prevents anyone from making changes except people with Editor-in-Chief or Publisher access levels (see the permissions section for more information on permissions).
