iWebPress: User Guide |
The Assignment Information fields control basic information about an assignment. These fields highly affect how an assignment is treated within the iWebPress system (for example, the due date determines when an assignment is overdue). It is recommended that you pay close attention to setting these fields appropriately.
Title
The title of an assignment is a unique identifier within the system. When searching for assignments (see Finding an Assignment), the title is used to identify assignments. When publishing to web, this becomes the headline.
Type
This sets the type of assignment within the system. Currently, the types of assignments supported are articles or images. As the name of each of these implies, set this to article for any text-based article or image for any graphic assignment (illustrations, photographs, or videos). This will affect the content fields below. By default, the Add assignment page loads with article content fields. To upload images to a new assignment, you will need to first set the type to image, submit the page, and edit the assignment.
Description
This is an internal description of the assignment. It is designed to tell the assignee (author or photographer) what to do.
Assigned to
This sets the assignee of the assignment. Typically this is also known as the author or photographer. While this field need not be set, doing so enables tracking features (such as seeing the assignment as part of a users' history).
You may select a user now, if you know who you want to complete the assignment. You can also click the question mark next to this field to bring up information on the user selected. If you do not know who you want to complete the assignment, you can add the assignment now (leaving it unassigned), and search for a user to assign it to. See Finding the Right User For an Assignment.
It is highly recommended you use the Assigned to field for every assignment. When publishing to web, this field will be used to determine the byline. However, this field can be overridden with the Byline field under Publication below.
Editor
This list shows anyone with permission level Editor (45) or higher. This allows you to set an editor responsible for the assignment. For example, you might want to set your sports editor responsible for a sports assignment. When an editor logs on, they can select My Group from their homepage to view assignments for which they are responsible.
Due
This date is used to determine when an assignment is due. Setting a date here means the assignment must be turned in on or by this date. This must be entered in the standard iWebPress date format of YYYY-MM-DD. If the assignment is not completed on or by this date, it will be indicated as overdue. As with any field, this can be changed at any time by an editor (for example, to give an extension).
